Parris Davenport

Life can be incredibly tough at times, causing distress and instability, and we can find ourselves engaging in unhelpful ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving as a way to cope. At times, this might stem from a particular life event or a series of ongoing stressors. Other times, the struggles we face in the present are tied to earlier life experiences that continue to shape how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us.

My role is to support you in developing more helpful and sustainable ways of responding to these challenges—while also understanding how your past experiences can interface with these present issues. I provide personalised treatment that draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Schema Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT), among others. I’ll work with you to understand the specific challenges you’re facing and adapt my approach to your needs.

While I am a clinically-trained psychologist, I show up as myself in the room with you so it doesn’t feel so clinical. I bring a lot of warmth and sensitivity, zero judgement and a light heartedness into the space, and I place a strong emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, collaborative, and comfortable. That relationship is the foundation for any meaningful work we do together.

I work with adults and older adults, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD), the LGBTQIA+ community and neurodivergent identifying individuals.
