Transfer of care
We are aim to be as inclusive as possible and not turn people away for treatment. However before registering for care, it is good to keep in mind that we are a BGGZ practice and can only offer time limited care. Specialist GGZ can at times be more suited to the following issues as they can offer more intensive treatment. This includes psychotic disorders, acute bipolar, substance use disorders that require an inpatient detox, dissociative disorders, forensic issues.
If these issue became apparent during care with Pause Psychology, we would work with you together to find the appropriate place of care.
What to expect
Treatment always begins with an initial assessment. The assessment session will be exploring what it is like to be you in a kind and compassionate way in terms of your past and current self. Once a clear understanding of how your circumstances have shaped your way of thinking and feeling we can begin to work on shifting any unhelpful ways of being to allow a greater sense of acceptance and well-being to flow.
What you can expect is an open and accepting environment for you to discover more about yourself. With kindness, understanding and practice, symptoms of mental health problems can be alleviated. The number of sessions and the direction the sessions take will be guided by you and what works best for you. Since we are within the BGGZ for any sessions that are done under the insurance then we are capped at approximately 12 sessions but this can vary for person to person.
Modalities and theories that are drawn upon:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Schema Therapy
- Compassion Focused Therapy
